Join & Be Counted – One Day – One Movement as we ZAP the Blackstone

Date: All day

Location: Throughout the whole Blackstone Valley Watershed

Registration: https://ZaptheBlackstone.com

The day is August 27, 2022 for the biggest clean-up green-up event in 50 years.  This day we revive the success of Operation Zap in 1972, when 10,000 volunteers came out for our Blackstone Valley environment.

ZAP, Zero Away Pollution, is a goal for our communities and we need you.

Join us as we rally 10,000 plus volunteers for this 2022 milestone anniversary.  “Our vision is to see lots of groups out on our streets, doing litter cleanups and projects that make our hometowns cleaner and greener”, states the ZAP 50 Steering Team, “and we want everyone to get involved”.

Getting involved is as easy as picking up a bag of litter.  We are asking individuals and all different groups, to take it upon themselves and get out and cleanup the litter we unfortunately see everywhere.  “One bag per person if we reach our goal for lots of volunteers will bring unbelievable results, and who doesn’t want to give a little time to chip in for this movement.”

Interested, here is how you take part. Sign up now on our website.  Zaptheblackstone.com

There is a project list of areas where volunteers can tackle a listed site.  Some sites are being organized by a group and are asking for additional volunteer support, and some locations are listed as already adopted.  Volunteers can see the open projects and choose one of those or tell us of a location you know and want to take care of.

“We need lots of eyes in our communities’ identifying locations, and lots of people willing to lead a group of volunteers”.  Individuals, companies, or organizations are welcome to add a location they want to tackle but realize they need volunteers to assist, and list that location. The project listing is an on-going worksheet and will be updated as more volunteers and locations join ZAP 50.

ZAP 50 has already had many banks, corporations and groups volunteer and are waiting for a project to join.  As residents, municipalities, and business owners, know we can get more accomplished when we have extra hands, so now is our opportunity to have these willing volunteers join you.

What better way to honor the original Operation ZAP, meet new people, bring new vigor to care for the environment and most of all have fun.   This is a family friendly, free opportunity that can make such a huge difference when we give back to our community.
