Newport - Earth Week Neighborhood Cleanup
Join us at Miantonomi Park for a family-friendly Earth Week celebration!
Events:
- Clean-ups in the park on foot, or Pliking* - heading out on your bike to collect around town Prizes for largest number of items collected, largest haul, most creative repurposing idea.
- Guided tree walks in the park led by the Newport Tree Conservancy, leaving at 11:30, 12:30 and 1:30.
- Free seedlings to take home
- Waste sorting relay races
- Woodsy the Owl!
- Creativity Station
- And More

*What is Pliking you ask?
PLIKE! verb [plīk], pliked, plik·ing
To pick up litter while biking.
How it works:
- This event begins & ends at Miantonomi Park (120 Hillside Ave.)
- Bike/Walk around the North End neighborhood, through the paths or in the park to pick up litter.
- Bring your litter back in your backpack or reusable bag. We will weigh all collected litter!
- Everyone must return by 1:45pm latest.
What you need to bring:
- Your bike, helmet, water bottle, and a backpack or pannier (For Pliking)
- Earth Week Joy!
What we will provide:
- Cleanup supplies: gloves, reusable bags, grabbers (for walking only)
- Tally sheets
- Fuel! Coffee & pastries
- Water-filling station
Please note:
- Go at your own pace - this is not a race!
- If you don’t have a bike and would like one, consider getting one from Bike Newport’s Adopt-A-Bike program a few weeks ahead of time. Come to Bike Newport's Bike Garage Mondays 4:30pm - 7pm Wednesdays 2pm - 5pm Thursdays 4:30pm - 7pm
