RIRRC Litter Free Initiatives

The Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (RIRRC) operates the state’s central waste facilities, most notably the Central Landfill and Materials Recycling Facility. Our mission is to provide safe, environmentally compliant, clean and affordable disposal services to the Rhode Island community. 

Resource Recovery offers a variety of free educational programs on proper waste disposal, municipal grant funding for special projects and tip fee waivers for litter clean-ups.

Free Educational Programs

Resource Recovery provides FREE educational programs to teach Rhode Island residents of all ages how to reduce, reuse, recycle, and properly dispose of their waste. Educators are available to travel and speak to schools, business, and community groups on these topics and we also offer facility tours/field trips at our site in Johnston. Tip Fee Waiver 

Rhode Island is a beautiful place to call home, and we want to make sure it stays that way! Each year, in honor of Earth Day and the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) with Save The Bay, Resource Recovery supports community litter cleanups across the state. Grant Program

Resource Recovery supports establishing local initiatives to assist residents in proper recycling, contamination reduction, waste prevention, material reuse, and appropriate waste disposal by offering grant funds to qualifying municipalities.
